Annual Christmas Dinner 2019
The Finnish American Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Christmas Dinner, held on December 13th, was a huge success! The dinner was held at the Estonian House and boasted a guest list of 60 with guests of various backgrounds and age groups attending. The dinner was sponsored by FACC Silver Sponsors MetsäBoard and Hodgson and Russ along with Reaktor. Traditional Finnish food was served including warm salmon, roasted potatoes, kraavilohi (a raw salmon dish), rutabaga casserole, and a traditional rice pudding for dessert. Bengt Holmström, Nobel Laureate and professor of economics at MIT, spoke at the event as the guest speaker of the evening and answered questions from the audience afterwards. Later on in the evening, Professor Holmström assisted Marko Salonen, Executive Director of FACC, in handing out various raffle prizes during the event’s much anticipated Annual Raffle. This year’s raffle prizes included an Orrefors Kosta Boda liquor decanter and two matching glasses donated by the Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), a 200€ Reima gift card, a 200€ Balmuir gift card, a 100€ Lovia gift card, and a set of 4 tickets to any 2020 season NYCFC game in the Delta Sky360 Suite along with two NYCFC backbags. In addition to beer, wine, and coffee, the Finnish Long Drink was also served at the event.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible including our sponsors, the Estonian House, Lonkero, and last but not least, Professor Bengt Holmström for being our distinguished speaker of the evening. We would also like to thank all the guests who attended this wonderful event and made it such a remarkable evening! See some of the pictures below.
