Internship Opportunity

The Finnish American Chamber of Commerce in New York (FACC-NY) — founded in 1948 and one of the world’s oldest Finnish chambers of commerce — is seeking a motivated Intern to join our team. FACC-NY is part of the Team Finland network in the United States and works closely with the Finnish and Nordic business community to promote transatlantic trade, investment, sustainability, and innovation.

Position Overview

This internship offers hands-on experience at the intersection of transatlantic business, sustainability, and innovation. The Intern will support daily operations, member services, digital communications, and high-level event coordination, gaining valuable exposure to international business networks and decision-makers. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management: Draft posts, support content planning, and contribute to channel growth
  • Website Updates: Maintain and update web pages, news items, and event listings 
  • Member CRM Support: Keep member records accurate and assist with onboarding and renewals 
  • Project Administration: Coordinate ongoing initiatives and prepare materials for meetings and events 
  • Board Support: Assist with Board communications, meeting preparation, and follow-up tasks 
  • Member & Community Outreach: Engage with the FACC-NY member community and support communications 
  • Team Finland Liaison: Support collaboration between FACC-NY, Team Finland, and Nordic business networks 
  • FINNCHAM Liaison: Assist with coordination, visibility, and brand-building initiatives across the network 

Professional Development Opportunities

  • Sustainability & Innovation Exposure: Contribute to thought-leadership initiatives and high-level programming 
  • Networking Access: Connect with business leaders, investors, and policymakers across the Finnish–U.S. ecosystem 
  • Board & Advisory Exposure: Observe strategic discussions and cross-sector collaboration 
  • Event Participation: Join high-level engagements linking Nordic and U.S. decision-makers 
  • Team Finland Engagement: Work closely with Team Finland partners in New York and the broader region 

Requirements

  • Studies in Business Administration, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field 
  • Business-minded, solution-oriented, and eager to learn 
  • Outgoing personality with strong communication and collaboration skills 
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organizational ability 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English; Finnish language skills are an asset 
  • Availability for at least 5–6 months, starting in January or July/August (flexible depending on university requirements) 
  • Must be enrolled in a university program 

Compensation & Visa Information

The Intern will apply for J-1 Visa together with FACC-NY and if approved develop an Internship Placement Plan (U.S. Department of State Form DS-7002). 

This internship is unpaid  under the J-1 Visa terms and supports training and cultural exchange and does not constitute regular employment. The Intern may only train at FACC-NY and must follow all program guidelines. If the training is not provided as outlined, the Intern must contact the U.S. Department of State.
